Thirty five members of Morpeth Footpaths Society and four guests recently enjoyed the second walk of their 2010 programme.
Members gathered at Morpeth Rugby Club car park before setting off to cross the River Wansbeck and skirt the remains of the Cistercian Newminster Abbey.
After around three-and-a-half hours of walking members arrived back at the Rugby Club in sunshine. The next walk is on March 21 at Hulne Park in Alnwick.
Equestrian enthusiasts keen to try a new sport are invited to try out Horseball.
The sport is a rough-and-tumble horse-back mix of rugby and basketball played at the gallop on a tiny pitch.
New players can have a go by joining in a training session at The Pegasus RDA Centre, Morpeth, on Saturday, March 27.

Morpeth Town appear marooned at the bottom of the Skilltrainingltd Northern League after losing at Billingham Town, who eased their relegation fears with a brace from Jonathan French.
Leaders Spennymoor Town returned to form with a bang, with Esh Winning the unlucky visitors to The Brewery field. The goals flowed from Gavin Cogden (2), Lewis Dodds (2), Keith Graydon and Matthew Tymon.

A North East equine school team Combined training event at Northumberland College's Kirkley Hall Equine Unit has been praised by organisers and competitors.
The event brings together school and college riders.

Three four-member teams from Ponteland High School, King Edward VI, Morpeth and Queen Elizabeth High School, Hexham joined a fourth Kirkley Hall team to compete in a friendly two-member split show jumping/dressage event under affiliated rules and on penalties.
A grant of £62,700 was awarded to Northumberland yesterday to help protect homes from flooding.
The grant scheme is part of the Government's response to Sir Michael Pitt's review of the 2007 floods.
