Welcome to Morpeth news

Thirty five members of Morpeth Footpaths Society and four guests recently enjoyed the second walk of their 2010 programme.

Members gathered at Morpeth Rugby Club car park before setting off to cross the River Wansbeck and skirt the remains of the Cistercian Newminster Abbey.

After around three-and-a-half hours of walking members arrived back at the Rugby Club in sunshine. The next walk is on March 21 at Hulne Park in Alnwick.

Equestrian enthusiasts keen to try a new sport are invited to try out Horseball.

The sport is a rough-and-tumble horse-back mix of rugby and basketball played at the gallop on a tiny pitch.

New players can have a go by joining in a training session at The Pegasus RDA Centre, Morpeth, on Saturday, March 27.

Places cost £5 per person and are available by contacting Emma Lowther on 07515 286 026 or emmalowther22@hotmail.co.uk, or at www.durhamhorseballclub.btik.com.
