Shops in a Northumberland market town are to open for business on Sunday in the run-up to Christmas as it continues to recover from the worst flooding in its history.
Traders in Morpeth are gradually getting back on their feet after dozens of them were forced to close because of the severe flooding which hit the town in September.
Starting this weekend, shops in the town centre will be open from 10.30am to 4.30pm every Sunday until Christmas in a bid to recover trade lost in the wake of the River Wansbeck bursting its banks.
Northumberland Wildlife Trust's water vole project has received a cash boost from Lord Ridley, of Blagdon Hall in Northumberland, who has donated ã3,000 towards improving areas in the county for the reintroduction of water voles.

People in Northumberland are getting good adult social care, according to a new national inspection.
The Commission for Social Care Inspection has given Northumberland's adult services department a two-star rating, and says it has "excellent capacity" for improvement.

Northumberland's countryside service is encouraging people to consider winter walks at Plessey Woods Country Park.
Mike Jeffrey, Countryside Access and Recreation Manager at Northumberland County Council, said: "There's nothing better on a frosty day than a bracing walk through the countryside. The parks in Northumberland are great places to get out to in the winter months.
"The four parks have something for everyone, from lakeside, woodland and open grassed areas to meadows, river banks, beaches and sand dunes. With plenty of trails to explore, it's the perfect place for some fresh air, to stretch your legs, have a winter picnic or take photographs of the fantastic views."
Northumbria Healthcare has recruited 13 new modern matrons to work in Morpeth Cottage Hospital and some of its other hospitals.
Rosemary Stephenson, the trust's director of nursing, said: "These matrons will oversee a group of wards and departments providing leadership and giving support. This means there is a dedicated person responsible for directing nurses in every ward and department across the trust.
"These matrons will make sure we care for patients in the way they want to be cared for. They will drive up standards by considering existing practice and looking for ways to improve this."
