Morpeth "must not become the next Alnwick"
Morpeth must not "turn into the next Alnwick" and become dominated by out-of-town shopping, say town chiefs.

The comparison was made as the public got a chance to ask questions about the Castle Morpeth Retail Study, which is an analysis of shopping patterns in Morpeth.
The study, based on shopper surveys, was published in July and looks forward through the next 16 years, with a review planned for 2013.
At a public meeting of Northumberland County Council's Castle Morpeth Area Committee, chairman Coun Richard Dodd said: "We do not want Morpeth to turn into the next Alnwick."
But members of the public were told the study should help to guard against losing footfall from Morpeth town centre.
The study says there is no capacity for additional convenience goods floorspace in Morpeth. This does not support the case for out of town supermarkets like Alnwick, according to Castle Morpeth Area Committee, and only limited supermarket floor space in the town itself which is already served by Morrisons.
