A teenager has been selected to take part in the regional final of a national cookery competition for budding young chefs.
Edward Matthew, 13, from King Edward VI School in Morpeth will compete in a cook-off against other students at Harrogate College on December 1.
He will battle for the regional title of the quality standard beef and lamb Young Chef Challenge and to win prizes, such as professional chef whites and ã200 of school kitchen equipment vouchers.

Police have named a teenager who was killed in a road smash yesterday. Liam Charles Hawley died following an accident on the A197, on Whorrall Bank, in Morpeth at around 2.50am.
