December 2011 Archives

The final part in this series of blogs will look at 2011 in pictures, one for every month of the year. My year at Wallington in the grounds and Walled Garden has been very enjoyable, sometimes it has been hard work. It has been a pleasure to work here and my year has been documented in pictures.

I shall continue to take photographs at Wallington on my weekly visits, but my next project of this type, is to document 2012 on my section of Hadrian's Wall Path National Trail. As well as volunteering at Wallington, I am a volunteer Ranger - looking after and monitoring a three mile section of this popular Trail.

As we approach the end of 2011, this series of blogs is nearly at their end. Over the year, I have taken hundreds of photographs around the grounds, woods and Walled Garden here at Wallington. My weekly visits to this popular National Trust property has allowed me to document the changes through the seasons.

The Chief Executive of a telephone advice service is urging Northumbrians struggling with legal or financial problems to pick up the phone and join the 3,480 people who have already turned their lives around after contacting the county's dedicated advice line.

Launched in autumn 2010 the Northumberland Single Telephone Advice Line - which is operated by DAWN Advice - has dealt with nearly 3,500 enquiries from people living across the county who are worried about money or legal matters in its first year alone.

Unique Northumbrian Pipe group Robson's Choice is launching a charity album this month in aid of St Oswald's Hospice.

To celebrate the launch of the 13 track CD, which includes a track named after St Oswald's Chapel, the group are inviting other musicians to join them at The Chantry in Morpeth on Wednesday 14th December for an informal concert.

Louise Woodman, a founder member of the group, from Stannington, said: "We get together to play mainly because we enjoy making music together, but knowing that we are raising money for such a well respected and well known cause gives us a focus and brings an extra meaning to our music."
