Unique Northumbrian Pipe group Robson's Choice is launching a charity album this month in aid of St Oswald's Hospice.
To celebrate the launch of the 13 track CD, which includes a track named after St Oswald's Chapel, the group are inviting other musicians to join them at The Chantry in Morpeth on Wednesday 14th December for an informal concert.
Louise Woodman, a founder member of the group, from Stannington, said: "We get together to play mainly because we enjoy making music together, but knowing that we are raising money for such a well respected and well known cause gives us a focus and brings an extra meaning to our music."
Robson's Choice was founded 13 years ago at Jane Robson's Northumbrian piping class. Since then they have gained a number of new members, including a guitarist and a fiddler, making a full group of 15 musicians. The band specialise in playing traditional music, performing everything from lyrical slow airs to foot-tapping jigs.
Anthony Robb, from Hooky Mat Records, donated his time to record the CD for the group. He explained: "It was a pleasure to get involved with this project as Robson's Choice do a great job promoting the pipes and St Oswald's is fantastic - I owe them a debt of gratitude for the wonderful way they helped my auntie a few years ago."
All pipers and musicians with instruments also in F pitch are invited to join Robson's Choice at The Chantry in Morpeth on Wednesday 14th December at 7.30pm for a glass of wine and an informal performance. The charity album will be available to buy on the night for £10.
The album will also be available to buy at St Oswald's shops around the region and from St Oswald's online shop.
