January 2012 Archives

A popular Northumberland Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) expected to be inundated with requests for free debt advice throughout 2012 is looking for volunteers to help with demand.

The DAWN CAB in Morpeth, which has been a lifeline for thousands living in its surrounding communities since opening in 1974, is hoping to recruit volunteer advisers to support its general advice service.

A Northumberland debt advice expert is warning those left financially vulnerable by the festive season to use extreme caution when dealing with companies offering commercial debt management services or payday loans.

Liz Chadwick, Chief Executive of DAWN Advice, which offers free debt advice, warned that many could see their financial situation become even worse if debt problems are not managed correctly or if there is a delay in seeking help.
