Talk Time at Wallington: "Playing Rounders With Hitler" - The Extraordinary Life of Molly Trevelyan

Join Lloyd Langley as he traces the changing life and times of Molly Trevelyan. As the wife of Wallington's donor, Charles Philips Trevelyan, Molly became a modern superwoman; travelling the country as a leading light of the WI (dodging Hitler's bombs!), supporting Charles' political life and promoting Northumbrian folk culture . She was also mother to six precocious children and played hostess to 119 evacuees! The talk will be followed by a delicious light lunch in the Clocktower Café. £20 per person, including refreshments and lunch. Booking essential through the Estate Office on 01670 773600.

Step back in time and find out what life was like on the Home Front during the Second World War. Follow our family trail to find out what it was like to be an evacuee at Wallington, see wartime vehicles in the courtyard and hear about the real children who were evacuated to Wallington during the war. Woodland Heritage Day
Sunday 30 September, 11.00 am - 3.00pm
Meet the Countryside Team who manage Wallington's vast woodland and explore all things to do with wood. There will be practical demos of wood working and woodland crafts such as chainsaw carving, axe throwing and horse logging. Normal admission charges apply + small charge for some activities.
