A river runs through it

David Thompson sent in this picture of the historic ruins on the west side of Morpeth, where some restoration work is taking place.

Hopefully the chilled grips of winter are now behind us, and the first shoots of green are becoming more abundant with signs of new life springing up all around us. The hibernating fly fishers are also becoming restless to set foot onto the banks of our north-east rivers, as the brown trout season gets underway on the 22nd March.
Stephen Lewins added a series of photos of features of St George's URC Church, Morpeth to our Northumberland Communities Flickr group.
Stephen is interested to know who the figures on the church represent. E-mail northumberland@ncjmedia.co.uk or leave a comment below if you know more about the history. You can view more pictures of the figures here.
